The Role

On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their project delivery team in Northumberland. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing mechanical installations, ensuring all activities are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest technical and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Site Coordination: Oversee daily mechanical site activities, collaborating closely with subcontractors, site supervisors, and the wider project team.

Technical Review: Review and evaluate mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and technical submittals to ensure alignment with project requirements.

Quality & Safety Assurance: Support the implementation of site QA/QC processes, carrying out installation checks, system inspections, and snagging resolution.

Progress & Reporting: Monitor site progress against schedule and report regularly on programme status to senior management.

Technical Query Management: Liaise directly with the design team to request, track, and resolve technical queries (RFIs) and design adjustments.

Documentation & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date project documentation, including safety records, submittals, and handover documentation.

Commercial Support: Assist commercial management by tracking variations, scope changes, and progress claims.

Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the mechanical team in site meetings, engineering reviews, and planning sessions.

Skills & Qualifications

Education: Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience: 3+ years of experience within the mechanical construction sector.

Technical Knowledge: Hands-on experience with mechanical systems including HVAC, piping, and associated building services.

Document Literacy: Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical submittals.

Communication: Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with subcontractors and project teams.

Sector Focus: Prior exposure to data centres, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale industrial projects is advantageous.
