We are looking for a skilled and proactive Night Engineer to join our maintenance team at our busy food manufacturing facility. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced multi-skilled engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and takes pride in keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring all production machinery and site services are maintained to the highest standards during the night shift. You will respond quickly to breakdowns, carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance on production equipment.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
* Respond promptly to machine breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records using the company's maintenance management system.
* Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
* Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment where required.
* Maintain a clean and organised engineering workshop and work areas.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
* Previous engineering experience within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
* A recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent).
* Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
* Experience with conveyors, packaging machinery, motors, pumps, pneumatics, and PLC-controlled equipment is desirable.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work independently during night shifts.
* A strong commitment to health & safety and food hygiene standards.
