Community Mentor, Alternative Provision in High Wycombe

Do you enjoy building positive relationships with young people and helping them overcome barriers to education?

An established Alternative Provision is seeking a dedicated Community Mentor, Alternative Provision in High Wycombe to support children and young people across High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and Berkshire. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference outside of a traditional classroom environment.

Working with pupils who may have SEN, SEMH,or other additional needs, you will provide tailored 1:1 support in a range of community settings. As a Community Mentor, Alternative Provision in High Wycombe, you will deliver mentoring, targeted interventions, and consistent encouragement to help students improve their engagement with education, develop confidence, and achieve positive academic and personal outcomes.

As this is a community-based position, you will travel between a variety of locations, including pupils' homes and local learning environments across Buckinghamshire, and Berkshire. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential, as regular travel forms a key part of the Community Mentor, Alternative Provision in High Wycombe role. A fuel allowance is provided.

What You'll Be Doing

Deliver personalised 1:1 mentoring and educational support tailored to each young person's individual needs.
Encourage engagement with learning through creative and structured intervention sessions.
Support pupils with social, emotional, behavioural, and additional learning needs.
Work closely with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure consistent support and progress.
Monitor student development, maintain accurate records, and contribute to individual learning and support plans.
Help young people successfully overcome barriers that may be preventing them from accessing education.What We're Looking For

Experience supporting children or young people in education, mentoring, youth work, outreach, pastoral care, or a similar setting.
A patient, adaptable, and resilient approach, with the ability to build trust and rapport.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Confidence working independently while managing your own schedule across multiple locations.
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
