Hybrid working: 2–3 days on site per week, depending on workload.
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist engineering client for an Environmental Project Engineer to support complex technical programmes across the full product lifecycle.
You’ll play a key role in defining environmental requirements, shaping proving strategies, and supporting the delivery of robust test programmes across climatic, mechanical and fatigue environments. This is a hands-on role with genuine technical depth, cross-functional influence and direct customer interface.
What you’ll do
* Work closely with engineering, design and proving teams to define environmental requirements and test strategies.
* Support product development from concept through qualification, certification and in-service support.
* Act as a technical focal point for environmental engineering work packages.
* Plan, deliver and monitor assigned technical work, ensuring output quality, cost control and delivery to schedule.
* Support the definition and delivery of climatic, vibration, shock and fatigue test programmes.
* Interface with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure engineering decisions are sound, practical and aligned to project needs.
What you’ll bring
* Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
* Experience planning, managing and delivering small to medium-sized work packages.
* Knowledge of environmental engineering within defence or a similar regulated industry.
* Understanding of vibration, shock, temperature and humidity environments across product life cycles.
* Familiarity with environmental test processes, measurements and instrumentation.
* Knowledge of relevant standards such as DEF STAN 00-035, AECTP 300, AECTP 400 and MIL-STD-810.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Clear verbal and written communication.
* A collaborative approach and confidence working across teams.
