Position: Environmental Protection Officer
Location: Brynsworthy Environmental Centre, EX31 3NP
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 6+ Months
Working Hours: 36 hours per week
Pay Rate: PAYE: £35.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities
Support planning and environmental protection activities within the local authority
Assess and provide technical input on planning applications in relation to environmental health impacts
Ensure compliance with relevant environmental protection legislation and policies
Liaise with internal departments, external agencies, and stakeholders as required
Investigate and respond to environmental protection enquiries and complaints
Prepare clear written reports and recommendations
Maintain accurate records and case documentation

Must-Have Requirements
Eligibility to work in the UK
Experience in environmental protection, environmental health, or planning-related work
Strong understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks
Ability to produce clear written reports and maintain accurate records
Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
Nice-to-Have Requirements
Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment
Knowledge of planning processes and development control
Relevant environmental health or planning qualification
Experience handling environmental complaints or investigations
