Section Engineer – Major National Grid Project

Stowmarket, Suffolk | Long-Term Opportunity

We're currently recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a major National Grid infrastructure project in Stowmarket, Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile civil engineering scheme, supporting the delivery of key early works before progressing into the main construction phase.

The Role

As a Section Engineer, you'll be responsible for delivering a section of the works, ensuring all engineering activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. You'll work closely with the Site Manager, Senior Engineers, and subcontractors to coordinate day-to-day site operations.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out accurate setting out using surveying equipment.

* Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and site plans.

* Manage and oversee a designated section of the works.

* Supervise subcontractors and ensure work is completed to programme.

* Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

* Produce and maintain QA documentation, site records, and as-built information.

* Identify engineering issues and provide practical solutions.

* Support the planning and coordination of daily site activities.

About You

We're looking for an engineer with a solid background in civil engineering who is confident managing their own section of works and supporting successful project delivery.

Essential:

* Previous experience as a Section Engineer or experienced Site Engineer on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

* Strong setting out and surveying experience.

* CSCS Card.

* Good understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.

* Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Desirable:

* SMSTS or SSSTS.

* Experience working on National Grid, utilities, highways, rail, or major infrastructure projects.

* Knowledge of QA processes and temporary works procedures.
