Engineering Project Manager – Capex & Capital Projects
COMAH Site
Contract (6 Months, Likely Extension)
Location: Greater Manchester
Contract Type: Contract (Inside IR35)
Rate: Negotiable dependent on experience
Start Date: ASAP
Our client operates a COMAH-regulated manufacturing site in Greater Manchester and is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager (Capex & Capital Projects) to join their team on an initial 6-month contract basis, with strong potential for extension.
This is a business-critical role, taking ownership of the site's Capital and Operational Expenditure portfolio and supporting the site's wider engineering and project delivery function.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the site's annual CAPEX/REVEX budget, including monthly forecasting and reporting
Own and develop the site's Long Range Plan, securing capital investment approvals
Own the Management of Change (MOC) process, ensuring all site modifications are properly assessed and approved
Actively participate in HAZOP and P&ID reviews as part of the site's process safety governance
Line manage a small team of Engineers and Designers (3–5 direct reports), plus oversight of Construction Contractors
Ensure all projects are delivered safely, on budget, and on schedule
Provide monthly progress reporting to senior site management
Build strong working relationships with Operations and Maintenance teams
Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement across the project portfolio
About You
Proven experience managing CAPEX/OPEX budgets within a chemical, petrochemical, or process manufacturing environment
Experience working on a COMAH-regulated site
Strong working knowledge of HAZOP and Management of Change processes
Experience managing multi-discipline engineering teams
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment
Hours & Pay
40 hours per week Monday to Friday
Start and finish times can be flexible
Work from home one day per week
Hour/day rate is negotiable dependent on experience.
