Position: Workshop and Despatch Operative

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £12.25-£13.50 per hour, commensurate with experience + benefits

Hours:

Weekly paid (Thursday)
39 hours per week
Monday-Thursday: 08:00 - 16:30
Friday: 08:00 - 15:30
Includes 30 minute unpaid lunch breakNicholas Associates have an excellent opportunity for a Workshop and Despatch Operative, to join an established client in the Sheffield area.

You will support the preparation, processing, and despatch of stainless steel products in accordance with customer specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. The role is hands-on and operational, contributing across stock handling, workshop processes, and despatch activities while maintaining accurate records, traceability, and a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Workshop Operations

Measure, mark out, cut, punch, bend, shear, drill, tap, weld, deburr, and clean sheet, plate, and bar materials.
Set up and operate cutting, punching, bending, drilling, tapping, and thread-rolling equipment in line with training and authorisation.
Support laser cut-to-size production, including material preparation, unloading, and secondary processing.
Assist with basic fabrication, welding preparation, and assembly tasks as required.
Carry out routine cleaning and basic care of machinery, tooling, and work areas.Stock, Goods-In & Materials Handling

Safely offload, inspect, label, and correctly store incoming materials.
Move, select, and return materials from stock racks using appropriate handling equipment.
Accurately record material movements, weights, and usage within ERP/MRP systems.
Maintain traceability through correct labelling, paperwork completion, and system entries.Despatch Duties

Pack, label, and secure finished products ready for collection or delivery.
Complete despatch documentation accurately, ensuring alignment with job numbers and customer requirements.
Liaise with office and logistics colleagues to support on-time, in-full despatch.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe despatch area.You will have:

Basic workshop or manufacturing experience (cutting, drilling, bending, thread-rolling, fabrication, or similar).
The ability to read engineering drawings and follow work instructions (training provided where required).
A willingness to use ERP/MRP systems accurately (training provided).
Be safety-conscious, reliable, and organised.About Us
