Transport Planner – Haulage

Location: Swadlincote
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Job Type: Temp to Perm

We are recruiting for a Transport Planner to join a busy and established haulage operation based in Swadlincote. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with transport or logistics experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys coordinating vehicle movements to ensure customer deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and schedule daily routes for a fleet of HGV vehicles.
Allocate work to drivers while ensuring maximum vehicle utilisation.
Monitor vehicle movements and proactively manage delays or changes.
Liaise with drivers, customers, and warehouse staff to ensure smooth operations.
Ensure compliance with driver hours, tachograph regulations, and company procedures.
Respond to customer queries and provide transport updates.
Maintain accurate transport records and update transport management systems.
Support the transport team with day-to-day operational requirements.What We're Looking For

Previous experience in a transport planning or haulage environment is preferred.
Good understanding of UK road networks and transport operations.
Knowledge of driver hours and transport legislation is desirable.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Confident using Microsoft Office and transport management systems.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
A proactive, reliable, and team-oriented approach.
