Fawkes & Reece are currently working with a well-established Swansea-based construction contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional to play a key role in maintaining and continually improving health, safety, environmental and quality standards across a diverse portfolio of construction projects. The successful candidate will be office-based in Swansea with regular travel to sites throughout South Wales, working closely with operational teams, clients, subcontractors and senior management.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the business.
Carry out regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews across multiple construction projects.
Conduct internal audits and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and current legislation.
Maintain and improve Integrated Management Systems, including ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001).
Ensure the business remains compliant with Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations 2015 and industry best practice.
Produce detailed audit reports, identify areas for improvement and monitor corrective actions through to completion.
Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, producing reports and implementing preventative measures.
Develop, review and update Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS) and safe systems of work.
Provide health and safety advice and support to project teams, site managers and senior leadership.
Deliver toolbox talks, health and safety briefings and internal training where required.
Monitor subcontractor compliance and ensure appropriate documentation is maintained.
Liaise with clients, external auditors, regulatory bodies and enforcement agencies.
Support pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs), tender submissions and client audits.
Monitor KPIs and produce regular health and safety performance reports.
Keep up to date with changes in legislation and implement improvements across the business.Requirements
Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager within the construction industry.
Excellent knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations 2015.
Experience carrying out internal audits and managing compliance across multiple construction sites.
Strong understanding of ISO Management Systems including ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
Previous experience investigating accidents and implementing corrective actions.
Ability to influence and build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent communication and report writing skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Confident using Microsoft Office and producing detailed reports.Essential Qualifications
NEBOSH National Diploma (or equivalent) or NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
NEBOSH Construction Certificate (desirable if Diploma not construction specific).
TechIOSH, GradIOSH or Chartered Member (CMIOSH) status, or working towards Chartered status.
Full UK Driving Licence.
CSCS Card (Academically Qualified Person or Manager level).Desirable Qualifications
