The Opportunity
Prospero Teaching is seeking dedicated and experienced SEND Tutors to provide high-quality 1:1 tuition and personalised educational support to children and young people across Stockport.
We are looking for passionate tutors who are committed to supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them overcome barriers to learning, rebuild confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
The role involves delivering engaging, tailored learning programmes that are adapted to each learners individual needs. Tutors will support students who may be out of mainstream education, experiencing gaps in learning or requiring additional support to re-engage with their education.
Alongside academic tuition, tutors may also support learners with developing confidence, independence, communication skills and preparing for their future pathways.
Due to the nature of the learners we support, applicants must have experience working with SEND students and a strong understanding of how to adapt teaching methods to meet a range of additional needs.
Position Details:
* Location: Stockport
* Position: Specialised SEND Tutor
* Hours: 5-15 hours per week (flexible)
* Start Date: September 2026
* Duration: Ongoing
The successful SEND Tutor will have:
* QTS or equivalent teaching qualification (desirable)
* Experience supporting children and young people with SEND
* Experience delivering personalised 1:1 tuition
* Experience working with learners who may be disengaged from education or require additional support
* The ability to create engaging lessons tailored to individual needs
* A patient, creative and adaptable approach to teaching
Experience supporting learners with needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, speech and language difficulties or other additional needs is highly desirable.
To be eligible for this role, the successful SEND Tutor must:
* Hold the Right to Work in the UK
* Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or be willing to process a new application
* Provide two professional child-related references
