We're recruiting on behalf of a well established, independent fresh produce business that supplies premium soft fruit to leading UK retailers. With a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and continuous growth, they're looking for an experienced Line Manager - Berries to join their packhouse team in Herefordshire.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast paced production environment while maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and food safety.
The Role
As the Line Manager - Berries , you'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the blueberry grading and packing line. You'll ensure production targets are achieved, product quality is maintained, and your team works safely and efficiently throughout the shift.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the grading and packing of berries to maximise yield and minimise waste.
Lead, motivate, and support a small production team to achieve daily targets.
Monitor grading equipment, carrying out routine checks and reporting any faults promptly.
Complete production, quality, and food safety records accurately.
Monitor line performance against KPIs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety, and health and safety across the production area.
Work closely with Production, Technical, and Quality teams to ensure customer specifications are consistently met.About You
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
Previous experience within a food manufacturing or fresh produce environment.
The ability to work effectively in a fast paced production setting.
Strong attention to detail and a good eye for product quality.
Good leadership, communication, and team working skills.
A flexible approach during busy seasonal periods.
Basic mechanical knowledge to assist with minor equipment issues.
A good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and health and safety requirements.
Basic computer skills for production reporting and record keeping.Working pattern
Full-time, permanent position
£15 per hour
Overtime paid at 1.25x basic rate for hours worked over 48 per week
4 on / 3 off shift pattern (Sun-Wed or Wed-Sat)
40-48 hours per week, increasing during peak season (April-August)What's on offer
33 days annual leave.
