Location: NN2 – Northampton
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary:
Pay Rates
* AM Shift (06:00 – 14:00): £16.50 per hour
* PM Shift (14:00 – 22:00): £17.50 per hour
* Night Shift (22:00 – 06:00): £18.50 per hour
The Role
We are looking for skilled Welders to join a busy manufacturing team producing high-quality fabricated components. This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for welding and assembling metal components to engineering drawings while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Tack and weld metal components in line with engineering drawings.
* Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Inspect components before and after welding to ensure quality standards are met.
* Measure finished parts against drawings to ensure dimensional accuracy.
* Carry out grinding, fettling, and finishing using air and electric hand tools.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
* Support other production activities when required (full training provided where necessary).
What We're Looking For
* Previous MIG welding experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
* Ability to weld to AWS D1.1 / AWS D15.1 standards (or UK equivalent BS EN ISO 9606-1 and BS EN ISO 5817).
* Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
* Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Good communication skills.
* Flexible and reliable approach to work.
Training & Assessment
* Successful candidates will be required to complete a practical welding test before starting.
* Full training will be provided to the required BS EN ISO 5817 welding standard where applicable.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding role within a manufacturing environment and involves:
* Handling and moving heavy components.
* Using magnetic hoists, chain hoists, and lifting equipment.
* Standing for extended periods.
* Working safely with welding and fabrication equipment.
