Are you an experienced Plant Engineer, HGV Technician or Agricultural Engineer looking for your next challenge? We're recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join a busy and growing service team covering Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.
This is a field-based role where you'll travel directly to customer sites, carrying out servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of construction plant machinery. Every day brings something different, making this an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys problem-solving and working independently.
The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will:
Service, maintain and repair construction plant machinery at customer sites.
Attend machine breakdowns, diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs.
Perform planned preventative maintenance and inspections.
Use electronic diagnostic equipment to identify electrical and mechanical faults.
Complete digital job sheets, service reports and timesheets accurately.
Order parts efficiently and liaise with the parts department to minimise equipment downtime.
Work closely with the Service Supervisor to deliver exceptional customer support.
Assist with the training and mentoring of apprentice engineers.
Carry out workshop-based repairs when required.
Ensure all repairs are completed safely and in line with manufacturer specifications and health & safety standards.About You
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
A recognised engineering qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent in:
Construction Plant Maintenance
Heavy Vehicle (HGV)
Light Vehicle
Agricultural Engineering
Or a similar mechanical engineering discipline
Experience working on construction plant, heavy equipment or similar machinery.
Strong knowledge of:
Diesel engines
Hydraulics
Electrical systems
Transmissions
Electronic diagnostics and fault finding
Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Good IT skills for completing digital service documentation.
A positive attitude with the ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
