About the role

Our Research & Development team is the creative engine behind KP Snacks, innovating to bring delicious, exciting and high-quality snacks to consumers across the UK. From developing new flavours and formats to improving existing recipes, the team combines consumer insight, market trends and technical expertise to shape the future of snacking.

We're looking for a Process Development Technologist to join our Research & Development team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their career who is passionate about food, innovation and manufacturing.

Working as part of a collaborative project team, you'll support the development and launch of exciting new products and processes across some of our most loved brands. You'll gain hands-on experience in factory trials, product development, process optimisation and cross-functional project delivery, working closely with colleagues across Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement and Commercial teams.

This role offers fantastic exposure to the full product development lifecycle, with opportunities to travel, learn from experienced technical experts and build a rewarding career within a leading snacks business.

What’s in it for you?
We believe in rewarding our colleagues and helping them thrive. Here’s a flavour of what we offer:

Competitive annual salary and annual salary review, plus KP Pension Plan with up to 7% matched contributions

Annual bonus scheme

25 days holiday, with the option to buy up to five additional days

Comprehensive healthcare support including Health Cash Plan, Digital GP and Employee Assistance Programme

KP4ME benefits platform with discounts, cashback and wellbeing support

Enhanced family-friendly policies to support colleagues at every stage of life

What will you be doing?

Supporting product and process development projects
Assist with the development of new products and optimisation of existing recipes, helping to deliver products that meet consumer expectations for taste, quality and value

Planning and delivering factory and pilot trials
Support the organisation and execution of trials, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis and documentation while working closely with site teams to validate performance and scalability

Ensuring technical and food safety compliance
Help ensure products meet all statutory, legal, customer and food safety requirements, maintaining accurate records throughout the development process

Working collaboratively across multiple teams
Partner with colleagues across Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Commercial and Technical teams to support successful product launches and business projects

Driving continuous improvement and innovation
Analyse data, benchmark competitor products and contribute ideas that improve products, processes, efficiency and sustainability across the portfolio

Who are we?
We’re KP Snacks, part of the Intersnack family. Across more than 30 countries, over 15,000 of us work together to make the snacks people love – from Hula Hoops to McCoy’s. In the UK, we’re a team of around 2,400 colleagues, based across seven sites and our Slough HQ. We’re proud of our close-knit culture, where we speak up, celebrate differences and push boundaries together.

We’re committed to inclusion
We’re building a workplace where everyone belongs. If you don’t tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you – your unique perspective could be just what we need. And if there’s anything we can do to make the process easier for you, just let us know.

We’d love to hear from you if you can bring:

A relevant scientific or technical degree
A degree in Food Science, Physical Science, Formulation Engineering or a related discipline

A passion for food, manufacturing and innovation
Curiosity about how products are developed and made, with enthusiasm for creating great products that consumers love

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
The ability to collect, interpret and communicate data to support informed decision making and continuous improvement

Excellent organisation and communication skills
The ability to manage multiple priorities, build strong relationships and work effectively with colleagues across different functions

A proactive and collaborative approach
A willingness to learn, embrace new challenges and contribute positively within a fast-paced team environment. Previous FMCG, project or manufacturing experience would be beneficial but is not essential
