Teaching Assistant - Year 2 Interventions - Maths, English & Phonics - September 2026 - Haringey
Are you an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking to make a real impact in KS1? A friendly and inclusive Primary School in Haringey is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to join their Year 2 team from September 2026.
The school is holding trial days during the first week back, giving successful Teaching Assistant candidates the opportunity to meet the staff, experience the school environment, and showcase their skills before the role begins.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the Year 2 class teacher, delivering targeted Maths, English and Phonics interventions to pupils who require additional support. The successful Teaching Assistant will play an important role in preparing pupils for the end of KS1, helping them build confidence, improve core skills and achieve their full potential.
This Teaching Assistant role is ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants, graduates considering a career in teaching, or Psychology graduates looking to gain practical classroom experience.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
Delivering Maths interventions as a Teaching Assistant
Leading English intervention groups as a Teaching Assistant
Supporting pupils through targeted Phonics sessions as a Teaching Assistant
Working with small groups of Year 2 pupils to boost attainment
Supporting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities
Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
Encouraging pupil confidence, independence and positive behaviour as a Teaching Assistant
Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff as a Teaching Assistant
