We're recruiting for a Team Manager to lead a dedicated Family Support Team within Children's Services in the Wrexham Principal Area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking local authority committed to delivering outstanding outcomes for children and young people.
The Role
As Team Manager, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership to a busy Family Support Team, ensuring children and families receive timely, effective interventions that promote safety, stability and positive change.
You'll oversee a skilled and committed team, driving performance, maintaining high professional standards, and creating an environment where practitioners can thrive.
The Family Support Team is responsible for:
Care and Support Plans.Delivering effective interventions that improve outcomes for children and families.Managing Child Protection Plans. Public Law Outline (PLO) processes. Progressing cases through to the first court hearing where required.
You'll Lead
* 15 Social Workers
* 3 Social Care Assessors
* 3 Assistant Team Managers
Working closely with senior leaders and partner agencies, you'll ensure statutory responsibilities are met while promoting a culture of continuous learning, collaboration and excellent social work practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing Family Support Team.
* Provide effective supervision, performance management and professional guidance.
* Oversee complex safeguarding, child protection, care planning and court work.
* Ensure statutory duties and performance targets are consistently achieved.
* Drive quality assurance, service improvement and best practice across the team.
* Support workforce development through coaching, mentoring and professional development.
* Build strong partnerships with internal departments and external agencies.
* Manage service performance, workload allocation and resource planning.
* Promote a positive, child-centred culture focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and families.
About You
To be successful, you'll have:
* Qualified Social Worker status.
* Current Social Care Wales registration.
* Significant management or senior leadership experience within Children's Social Care.
* Extensive knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, court proceedings and care planning.
* Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong decision-making, organisational and communication skills.
* A proven ability to manage performance, support staff development and drive service improvement.
* A commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes for children and families.
