Development
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking an
experienced Vice President, Strategic Development to lead the
development national consumer group. This individual will identify
new opportunities to grow portfolio engagement to increase revenue,
including, corporate partnerships, commercial co-ventures, social
enterprises, and sponsorships. This successful VP candidate will
lead and steward a portfolio of executive level national corporate
relationships and work as a team leader to drive growth to achieve
the ADA mission and revenue goals.
ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
Nearly 114 million Americans have diabetes or
prediabetes-the fastest growing disease-and are striving to manage
their lives while living with the disease. The ADA is a national
nonprofit with 50 offices in the United States, over a million
volunteers, and almost 500 staff members − including officers and a
board of directors. Consisting of both medical and business
professionals, the community is united in fighting the diabetes
epidemic and helping people living with diabetes
thrive. For nearly 80
years, the ADA has been driving discovery and research to treat,
manage and prevent diabetes, while working relentlessly for a cure.

ROLE SUMMARY
This position is accountable for
significant revenue targets and will be accountable for the
strategic implementation of nationwide initiatives with national
retail chains, insurance companies, consumer technology companies,
and nutritional companies. The successful candidate will
manage a Strategic Development group that will work
cross-functionally with the ADA executive team, the home office
staff, the Mission team members, the Marketing and Communications
team and the field leadership and regional teams to drive growth to
achieve their mission.
Through effective leadership,
creativity and strong business acumen, this executive will lead
his/her teams to increase corporate relationships, meet national
fundraising goals, facilitate/assist the markets in meeting their
fundraising goals and build awareness for the American Diabetes
Association.
The ideal candidate must have a proven
track-record of success in corporate fundraising, business
development, commercial co-venture/social enterprise development
and relationship management in either a corporate or non-profit
environment. Exceptional organizational, written and verbal
communication skills are necessary for this position. Must have
ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and achieve results in a team
environment. The ideal candidate must have experience leading high
performing account teams and have a strong record of strategic
planning and implementation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Experience selling
within the consumer related and retail related companies/industries
is recommended.
· Experience in
leading high performing sales or development teams is a must.
· Bachelor's degree
required.
· 8-10 years of
non-profit, corporate fundraising and/or sales.
· Track-record of
success in account management and developing corporate partnerships
which exceeded revenue targets.
· Outcome driven
with ability to respond to changing circumstances and
priorities.
· Self- starter with
an entrepreneurial drive.
· Ability to
travel.
· Ensure compliance
with ADA policies, including, risk management, and financial
controls.
