An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Credit Controller to join a well-established, successful international business based near Alton. Working closely with the Group Finance Manager, you will be responsible for managing the credit control function while building strong customer relationships, and working as part of a collaborative finance team. This is a varied position that requires diligence, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with customers and internal teams.

Credit Controller – About The Role

As a Credit Controller, you will play an integral part in managing and maintaining the company’s credit control processes, ensuring timely collections and minimising the risk of bad debts. Key responsibilities include:

Managing the credit control process through telephone calls and emails

Chasing outstanding debt while maintaining excellent customer relationships

Negotiating payment plans and resolving payment queries promptly and professionally

Maintaining accurate records of customer communications and payment arrangements

Producing aged debtor reports and providing regular updates on outstanding accounts

Opening new customer accounts and carrying out credit checks and credit limit reviews

Raising credit notes and processing returns

Posting daily customer receipts and processing credit card payments

Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple currencies

Reconciling the sales ledger control account to the aged debtors ledger

Producing customer statements and supporting month-end and year-end processes

Assisting with sales reporting and royalty calculations

Investigating debit note queries and resolving discrepancies

Supporting the wider finance team with administrative and office duties as required

The successful Credit Controller will have:

Previous experience within a Credit Controller or similar role

Strong understanding of credit control processes and best practice

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload

High attention to detail and excellent accuracy

Confident using Microsoft Excel and various accounting systems

A proactive, customer-focused approach with excellent problem-solving skills

The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a supportive finance team
