Immediate Start
£90k - £110k Annual
Full-Time
Global technology & software product company operating in the observability and monitoring space, is looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer to join their Platform Team in London. You'll help build the distributed services that sit at the core of their product, ingesting and transforming data at scale so it can power a range of analytics and monitoring tools used by customers around the world.
Location: London (Old Street / Shoreditch). Salary: £90K - £110K basic, plus an extensive benefits package. Working arrangement: hybrid, ideally 2 days per week in the office, with flexibility considered.
What you'll be doing
Design and build distributed services from the ground up, working with core Java rather than solely relying on heavy framework usage.
Develop event-driven systems using Kafka and event-streaming frameworks at scale
Orchestrate deployments on Kubernetes, defining services, deployments and stateful sets
Tackle hard problems around data consistency and availability, and shape how the platform evolves
Mentor other engineers while continuing to learn from senior peers across a global team
What you need to bring
At least 7 years' experience as a backend Java developer, building complex distributed systems
A deep understanding of core Java, data structures and concurrency, not just framework knowledge
Hands-on experience with Kafka and event-streaming frameworks such as Flink, Kafka Streams or Spark
Practical Kubernetes experience, including troubleshooting production issues
Experience tuning JVM performance - garbage collection, CPU hotspots and heap dump analysis
Why you'll love this job
Genuine ownership - you'll take on your own piece of the product within 90 days, backed by a supportive team
A strong learning culture, with a structured onboarding plan and an ambitious L&D policy behind you
An extensive benefits package covering health, dental, pension, life assurance and more
If you're a backend-focused Java engineer who enjoys solving hard distributed systems problems and wants to work on technology used at global scale, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today to find out more about this opportunity
