Days | Monday - Thursday | 7:00am - 5:15pm

Contek Recruitment are working in partnership with a precision engineering client in Leicester who are looking to strengthen their Quality department with the appointment of a Quality Inspector.
Our client is a long-established precision engineering company manufacturing high-precision CNC machined components for a range of demanding industries including Motorsport, Defence, Scientific, Marine and Electronics. Operating from a modern manufacturing facility, they continue to invest in the latest CNC machining and inspection technology, supplying customers with complex, tight-tolerance components whilst maintaining exceptional quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Inspector who enjoys working in a fast-paced subcontract machining environment and wants to play a key role supporting production and maintaining the highest levels of quality.
Experience & Skills Required
* Ideally apprentice trained or from a time-served engineering background.
* Previous experience working as a Quality Inspector within a precision engineering/CNC machining environment.
* Strong understanding of engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
* Confident using a wide range of manual measuring equipment including:
* Verniers
* Micrometers
* Height Gauges
* Bore Gauges
* Shadow Graphs
* Experience operating a manual Aberlink CMM is highly desirable (programming is not required).
* Experience completing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
* Experience raising and investigating Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
* Competent carrying out first-off, patrol and final inspection.
* Strong attention to detail with excellent record keeping.
* Good computer literacy and experience completing inspection documentation.
* Ability to work effectively within a busy subcontract manufacturing environment.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise across production and quality teams.
The Role
* Carry out first-off, patrol and final inspection of precision machined components.
* Inspect components against engineering drawings using a range of manual inspection equipment.
* Operate the manual Aberlink CMM to verify component dimensions where required.
* Complete FAIR documentation in line with customer requirements.
* Raise, investigate and assist in resolving NCRs.
* Assist the Quality Manager with day-to-day quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure inspection records and quality documentation are completed accurately.
* Support production by identifying quality issues and helping maintain efficient manufacturing processes.
* Ensure all inspection activities comply with ISO 9001 quality procedures.
* Work closely with production, engineering and management to maintain the highest quality standards.
