About the Role

We are seeking empathetic, energetic, and resilient Children's Residential Support Workers to join our dedicated team in Workington. You will be supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma, high emotional needs, or behavioural challenges, helping them build safe, stable, and fulfilling futures in a supportive home environment.
What a Typical Week Looks Like
Our shift patterns are designed around the routines of the young people, giving you dedicated days off between shifts to rest and recharge:
Shift Type: Primarily Long Days (e.g., 8:00 AM - 11:00 PM) combined with Sleep-in shifts.
Daily Responsibilities:
Creating a warm, safe, and structured home environment.
Cooking meals, managing household tasks, and supporting daily routines.
Accompanying young people to school, appointments, hobbies, local activities, and day trips around the West Coast and Lake District.
Offering emotional support, listening actively, and de-escalating challenging situations with care and patience.
Completing clear, accurate logs and handover notes at the end of shifts.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Values First: A genuinely caring nature, strong patience, and a non-judgmental attitude.
Resilience: The ability to remain calm and supportive during emotionally challenging moments.
Flexibility: Willingness to work long days, sleep-ins, weekends, and bank holidays on a rota system.
Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence is essential due to transport needs for the young people and local trips.
Desirable:
Previous experience in residential care, youth work, special educational needs (SEN), or social care.
