SEMH Teaching Assistant - Radcliffe, Bury
Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a welcoming primary school in the Radcliffe area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs to achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.
Working alongside experienced teaching and pastoral staff, you will provide tailored support to pupils who may require additional help managing emotions, building confidence and engaging positively with learning. You will play an important role in creating a calm, consistent and nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued and able to reach their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
Building positive relationships based on trust and consistency.
Supporting emotional regulation using positive behaviour strategies.
Encouraging engagement with learning activities.
Working closely with teachers, SENDCOs and external professionals.
Monitoring progress and providing feedback to staff.
Promoting inclusion, resilience and independence.
Following safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times.
The successful candidate will have:
Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A calm, patient and empathetic approach.
Strong behaviour management skills.
A genuine passion for improving children's outcomes.
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
