Finance Assistant | Gosport | Permanent | £27,000 - £30,000 FTE | Part-time (22.5 - 30 hours per week)
Are you a detail-driven finance professional looking for a role where your work genuinely makes a difference to people's lives?
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established and highly respected care and housing trust based in Gosport, for a Finance Assistant to join their friendly finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to be part of an organisation that puts people first.
About the role
Reporting to the Director of Finance, you'll play a key part in the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function - from purchase and sales ledger work through to resident accounts, credit control, banking reconciliations and supporting month-end and audit processes. No two days will be quite the same, and you'll have plenty of opportunity to get involved in process improvements as the team continues to develop.
What you'll be doing as a Finance Assistant
Processing supplier invoices, matching to purchase orders and coding to the correct nominal ledger
Managing sales ledger activity including housing charge, fee and recharge invoices
Working alongside the care home reception team to maintain resident personal accounts and expenses
Supporting credit control, escalating overdue balances where appropriate
Assisting with bank reconciliations, control accounts and petty cash
Contributing to month-end tasks, audit preparation and ongoing process improvements
Building strong working relationships across care, housing, property and head office teams
What we're looking for in a Finance Assistant
A genuine team player with excellent attention to detail
Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel
Someone who can work independently as well as collaboratively
A great communicator, comfortable liaising with suppliers, residents, families and colleagues
Previous experience in a finance or accounts role would be an advantage, though a strong work ethic and willingness to learn matter just as much
What's on offer
£27,000 - £30,000 FTE, depending on experience
Flexible working pattern (22.5 - 30 hours per week, arranged to suit)
20 days holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 25 days with service (pro rata)
Pension scheme
Free onsite parking
Support towards AAT or similar finance qualifications where agreed
The chance to join a values-led organisation with a genuine sense of purpose
If you're looking for a permanent role where your finance skills contribute to something meaningful, we'd love to hear from you.
