A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Hammersmith is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to work within a nurturing primary school environment. The successful candidate will support pupils across the school, including children with Autism and a range of other special educational needs.

Depending on the needs of the pupils and the successful candidate's experience, the role may involve working within mainstream classrooms, providing 1:1 and small group support, or supporting pupils within the school's dedicated inclusion provision.

The Role:

* Supporting pupils with Autism and a range of additional needs across the primary school

* Providing 1:1 and small group support both within the classroom and through targeted interventions

* Helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and engage positively with school life

* Supporting children with communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs

* Working with pupils both within mainstream classes and, where appropriate, within the school's inclusion provision

* Supporting emotional regulation, routines, transitions, and positive behaviour

* Working closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and wider support staff to implement individualised strategies

The Ideal Candidate:

* Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly Autism, is desirable

* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

* Confident supporting pupils who may experience emotional dysregulation or behavioural challenges

* Able to build strong, positive relationships with children and encourage their independence

* Adaptable and comfortable working across different year groups and settings

* Strong communication and teamwork skills

* A relevant qualification or experience in education, care, psychology, youth work, or a similar setting is desirable
