SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary ASD)

Location: L36

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

Hours: Flexible Options (Choose 08:30 – 15:30 or 08:30 – 16:15)

Are you looking for a deeply rewarding role where your energy, empathy, and willingness to learn can genuinely change a child's day?

Knowsley Central is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our structured, supportive primary team. We specialize in supporting primary-aged children with autism spectrum conditions (ASD) who are non-verbal.

The Role

In this role, no two days are the same. You will work closely with class teachers to create a safe, engaging, and predictable environment where our pupils can thrive. You will assist with sensory activities, support communication through creative methods, and help children navigate their school day with confidence.

What We Are Looking For

We believe great support comes from diverse life experiences. You do not need years of school experience to apply. We welcome applicants from all walks of life—whether your background is in care, sports coaching, creative arts, or you are simply looking for a meaningful career change.

*

An Eager Attitude: A strong desire to succeed and make a positive impact.

*

A Willingness to Learn: Openness to training (such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory support strategies).

*

Resilience & Warmth: A calm, patient demeanor and a big heart.

*

Experience: Prior experience with ASD or non-verbal individuals is desirable, but a great attitude and natural empathy are what matter most.

Why Join Us?

*

Work-Life Balance: Choose the hours that fit your lifestyle best (finish at 15:30 or 16:15).

*

Long-Term Stability: A consistent, secure full-time role in a highly regarded school.

*

Professional Growth: Exceptional hands-on training and mentorship from a team of specialists.

*

Incredible Rewards: Celebrate the breakthrough moments when a child communicates or masters a new skill because of your support
