QUALITY ENGINEER — OXFORDSHIRE

Up to £45,000 + Benefits | Permanent | Full-Time

This is a hands-on quality engineering role with real scope, not a pure systems or documentation position. You'll be the primary quality interface between customers, suppliers and the shop floor, working inside a precision engineering and manufacturing environment where the standard of work genuinely matters.

If you've come up through manufacturing, understand the realities of production and can translate customer requirements into something the shop floor can actually work with, this is worth reading.

THE ROLE

You'll own quality across the full manufacturing cycle from incoming inspection and supplier quality through to customer complaints and continuous improvement. Day-to-day this means investigating non-conformances, running 8D and 5 Why problem-solving, managing calibration systems, developing inspection documentation and training production teams on measurement and quality standards.

You won't be handed a quiet inbox. This is an active, outward-facing role that requires you to build credibility with customers, challenge suppliers and work closely with manufacturing to drive right-first-time quality.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Acting as the primary quality contact for customers and suppliers, managing relationships and resolving issues at pace.
Investigating and resolving non-conformances and customer complaints using structured problem-solving — 8D, 5 Why, root cause analysis.
Translating customer quality requirements into manufacturing documentation, inspection plans and control processes.
Managing and maintaining calibration systems for all measurement and test equipment across the facility.
Setting up and controlling inspection equipment within production.
Training and mentoring manufacturing personnel on inspection methods, measurement techniques and quality standards.
Producing inspection reports, trend analysis and quality performance metrics.
Conducting internal and supplier audits.
Developing and driving quality improvement initiatives across the business.
Supporting project management and stakeholder coordination on quality-related programmes.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Minimum 5 years in a Quality Engineer or similar manufacturing quality role.
Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on engineering background.
Solid understanding of manufacturing quality systems and production processes.
Able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings confidently.
Experienced across a range of inspection and measurement techniques.
Proven track record producing quality documentation and inspection reports.
Strong customer and supplier quality management experience.
Experienced conducting internal and supplier audits.
Structured problem-solver — 8D and 5 Why experience essential.
Confident communicator who can deal directly with customers and influence manufacturing teams.
Competent in Microsoft Office.

Oxfordshire location. Up to £45,000 depending on experience, plus benefits package.
