Job Vacancy: Purchasing and Logistics Manager

Salary: £70,000

Location: Barnsley

Our client, a leading well-established manufacturing organisation known for its commitment to quality and innovation, is seeking a dynamic Purchasing and Logistics Manager to help drive their business forward. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional looking to make a significant impact.

As the Purchasing and Logistics Manager, you will be at the forefront of enhancing our client's global supplier base and optimising logistics processes.

Your role will involve:

Supplier Management: Oversee a portfolio of suppliers with a spend of over £10M, negotiating robust contracts while ensuring quality and delivery.

Team Leadership: Develop, support, and coach a dedicated purchasing and logistics team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to value-added procedures.

Logistics Oversight: Maintain and develop materials management and stocking policies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and flexibility to meet seasonal demands.

Cost Efficiency: Achieve cost reductions through strategic negotiations and optimal supplier selection, while supporting new product introductions.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain a structured global supply base with dual source plus back up
Create and analyse KPI reports to measure supplier performance and drive improvements.
Initiate and implement new purchasing strategies in collaboration with senior management.
Support New Product Introduction projects through to proven / secure implementation
Conduct supplier audits and development meetings, ensuring high standards of quality and delivery.
Maintain full understanding and compliance of the companies ISO 9001/ ISO14001/ISO18001 standards, plus develop, maintain and audit effective logistics procedures and compliance
Manage stock discrepancies and ensure accurate inventory through effective monitoring processes. To excel in this role, you should have:

Experience in a senior position within purchasing, commodity management, or supply chain management.
Proven experience in purchasing steel, welded fabrications, and machined commodities.
A qualification from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply is preferred.
Strong business administration skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems (MRP).
Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and continuous improvement methodologies.Your Application:
