Projects Systems Accountant
Location: Brentwood (Hybrid Working)
Rate: £35.00 per hour PAYE
Contract: 6 Months initially
Hours: 37 hours per week (3 or 4 days per week will also be considered)
## The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Projects Systems Accountant to join a busy local authority finance team on a 9-12 month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong financial systems experience to lead key projects, support system improvements and work collaboratively with Finance and ICT teams to deliver effective financial management solutions.
## Key Responsibilities
Lead financial systems projects, upgrades and the ongoing development of the Council's corporate financial management systems.
Support and monitor key finance projects, providing regular updates on progress, risks and outcomes.
Act as the specialist advisor on financial systems, ensuring robust processes, controls and reporting are maintained.
Manage system configuration, user access, testing, training and stakeholder engagement across the organisation.
Work closely with Finance and ICT teams to deliver system enhancements and resolve technical issues.
Support budget monitoring, year-end processes, reconciliations and financial reporting activities.
Contribute to budgeting, budgetary control and the production of accurate financial reports.
Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes and efficiencies.
## About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Experience in budgeting, budgetary control and financial reporting.
Proven experience delivering finance systems upgrades, implementations or finance transformation projects.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across Finance, ICT and wider business teams.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Experience configuring and supporting corporate financial management systems.
A proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects to deadlines.
## Qualifications
AAT qualified, part-qualified or fully qualified accountant.
CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA or an equivalent professional qualification is desirable
