About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic specialist SEN school located in Chorley. This full-time position starts in September and offers a great opportunity for a temp-to-perm transition for the right candidate.

You will be working alongside a supportive team of teaching and specialist staff to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Whether delivering 1:1 intervention, facilitating small group learning, or assisting with classroom activities and therapies, you will play a crucial role in empowering young people to achieve their potential in a safe, nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group educational and emotional support to pupils with complex SEN needs.
Assist the class teacher in adapting learning activities and managing dynamic classroom environments.
Support pupils' social, emotional, and communication development, keeping safety and wellbeing at the forefront.
Assist with classroom routine, sensory interventions, and specialized activities (e.g., hydrotherapy or outdoor learning, where applicable).
Provide personal care and assistance with mobility where required (full guidance provided).
Promote independence, resilience, and positive behaviour.Requirements & Person Specification

Experience: Prior experience working with children or young adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in an educational, care, or community setting is essential.
Attributes: Patient, resilient, nurturing, and adaptable with a strong sense of humour.
Qualifications: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable, but transferable experience with SEN is highly valued.
Compliance: Must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
