A well-established UK engineering manufacturer is looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its growing assembly team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a business that designs and builds bespoke industrial machinery for customers across the UK and internationally.
Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you'll be responsible for assembling, testing and commissioning high-quality special purpose machinery, as well as carrying out refurbishment and repair work on existing equipment. This role would suit someone who enjoys varied, hands-on engineering work and takes pride in delivering a quality build.
Mechanical Fitter - Key responsibilities include:
• Mechanical assembly of bespoke machinery from engineering drawings
• Assembly of components including gears, bearings, seals and mechanical linkages
• Testing machinery and carrying out final inspections prior to dispatch
• Diagnosing and reporting faults, non-conformances and component issues
• Maintaining high standards of quality, housekeeping and health & safety
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the workshop
• Assisting with the training and development of apprentices and new team members
• Working flexibly across different areas of the business when required
Mechanical Fitter - We're looking for candidates who have:
• A recognised engineering apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent minimum)
• At least two years' experience assembling OEM or special purpose machinery
• The ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings
• Experience working with precision mechanical assemblies
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and quality standards
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Mechanical Fitter - What's on offer:
• Four-day working week (Monday to Thursday, 37 hours)
