An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Technician to join a world-leading scientific and advanced engineering organisation operating one of Europe's most sophisticated large-scale research facilities

This is a hands-on engineering role supporting the installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault finding of specialist electrical systems and infrastructure. Working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliable operation of critical engineering systems whilst contributing to major upgrade and development projects.
This role would suit an Electrical Technician, Electrical Maintenance Technician, Electrical Fitter, Control Panel Technician or Industrial Electrician looking to work on technically advanced systems within a highly collaborative engineering environment.
Main Responsibilities of the Electrical Technician (Didcot):
Install, commission and support specialist electrical systems and infrastructure used within complex engineering environments
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and repair of electrical, control and instrumentation systems
Build, wire and assemble electrical panels, control racks and associated equipment
Support installation and commissioning activities for new engineering projects and system upgrades
Conduct electrical testing, inspection and calibration activities to ensure compliance with relevant standards
Prepare and follow electrical test procedures and engineering documentation
Assist engineering and scientific teams with maintenance and upgrade activities across specialist technical systems
Provide technical feedback to support continuous improvement and future system developments
Maintain accurate engineering records, drawings and maintenance documentation
Order electrical components, consumables, tooling and spare parts as required
Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures, engineering standards and quality requirements
Requirements of the Electrical Technician (Didcot):
Proven experience within Electrical Engineering, Electrical Maintenance, Electrical Installation or Industrial Electrical environments
Experience installing, maintaining and fault finding electrical systems and control equipment
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation
Experience wiring electrical panels, cabinets or industrial control systems
Strong practical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Good understanding of electrical testing, inspection and commissioning activities
Excellent communication and teamwork skills within multidisciplinary engineering environments
Experience within one or more of the following technologies would be advantageous:
Industrial electrical systems
Electrical control panels
Instrumentation systems
PLC-controlled equipment
Industrial automation
RF systems
Vacuum systems
Scientific equipment
Manufacturing machinery
High-reliability engineering environments
Desirable:
NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Experience working within scientific research, advanced manufacturing or highly regulated engineering environments
