Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School - Newham

A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Newham is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their pastoral team from September. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional support to help them engage positively with school life. You will provide both one-to-one and small group interventions, helping pupils develop emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour strategies.

You will work alongside teachers, pastoral leaders, SEN staff and families to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed both academically and personally.

Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group behaviour support.
Build positive, trusting relationships with students.
Support pupils in managing behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Promote positive behaviour across the school.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the pastoral team.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
Help create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring or similar setting.
Confident managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
Calm, patient and resilient with excellent communication skills.
Passionate about helping young people achieve their potential.
Able to build strong relationships with students, staff and parents.
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
