Avia Technique is a leading UK aviation maintenance and repair centre, specialising in critical safety and survival equipment. We’re currently seeking a skilled Technical Team Leader to join our Wokingham facility, to lead a small team of skilled technicians responsible for the repairing, maintaining and inspection of Line Replacement Units (LRUs).
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled engineer with strong leadership capabilities who is passionate about developing people, driving operational excellence and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.
The Role
As Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Eaton Pump Workshop, ensuring production targets, customer turnaround times and departmental KPIs are achieved whilst maintaining regulatory compliance and exceptional quality standards.
You will lead by example, providing technical guidance and support to the team while promoting a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and teamwork
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Lead, motivate and develop a team of workshop technicians.
Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with approved maintenance data, CMMs and company procedures.
Oversee the assembly, disassembly, inspection and overhaul of hydraulic pump LRUs.
Drive achievement of departmental KPIs, productivity targets and customer turnaround times.
Manage workload prioritisation and resource allocation within the workshop.
Ensure compliance with aviation regulations, company quality procedures and health & safety requirements.
Identify training needs and support the development of team members through coaching and performance reviews.
Promote LEAN principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
Ensure tooling, equipment and test equipment remain serviceable and within calibration requirements.
Support audits, customer visits and technical discussions as the departmental representative.
Manage basic people and HR matters within the team.
Act as a key holder with Aircraft on Ground (AOG) responsibilities
Person profile:
Essential Criteria:
NVQ Level 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent
Strong mechanical engineering background
Previous leadership, supervisory or team management experience
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
Strong understanding of engineering principles and workshop practices
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to lead teams, manage workloads and achieve operational targets
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
Desirable
Leadership or Management qualification
Health & Safety qualification
Experience within an aerospace MRO environment
Machining or lapping experience
Electronics experience
Experience driving LEAN and continuous improvement projects
Training and coaching experience
