£73k - £73k Annual
Full-Time
Quantity Surveyor (Pre-Contract / Estimating)
Location: London / Essex (Hybrid)
Salary: Up to £73,000 + Outstanding Benefits
We're recruiting on behalf of a leading Train Operating Company looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support a major programme of station redevelopment and asset investment across its rail network.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business investing heavily in its infrastructure, with a long-term pipeline of work and one of the strongest benefits packages you'll find in the rail industry.
Unlike many Quantity Surveying positions, this role has a real focus on pre-contract commercial management and estimating. You'll be developing cost estimates from outline designs, supporting business cases and procurement strategies, and helping shape projects before they move into delivery.
If you're looking to move away from purely post-contract project work and into a role where you can influence projects from the very beginning, this is well worth considering.
The Role
Working within the Asset Commercial team, you'll provide commercial support across a wide range of civils and M&E projects, working alongside engineers, designers and project managers to ensure projects are commercially robust from concept through to completion.
Responsibilities include:
Producing cost estimates from outline designs
Supporting business cases and investment decisions
Budget development and cost planning
Pre-contract commercial support
Procurement and tender management
Cost forecasting and commercial reporting
Working across civils and M&E asset projects
Contract administration and stakeholder management
What We're Looking For
Quantity Surveying experience within rail or infrastructure
Strong estimating and pre-contract commercial experience
Ability to interpret technical designs and develop accurate cost estimates
Experience across both Civils and M&E projects
Good understanding of NEC contracts
Strong commercial awareness and communication skills
Why Join?
Alongside a salary of up to £73,000, you'll benefit from an excellent package including:
Hybrid working
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
Option to purchase up to 5 additional days annual leave
Free travel on the company's rail network
75% discount on other National Rail services
Access to the Railway Pension Scheme (a highly regarded defined benefit pension for eligible members)
Cycle to Work scheme
Discounted gym membership
Retail discounts through My Staff Shop
Long-term career opportunities within a business investing heavily in its stations and infrastructure
This is an excellent opportunity to join a business delivering major investment programmes while enjoying the stability, flexibility and benefits that are rarely found elsewhere in the infrastructure sector.
If you'd like to find out more, we'd love to hear from you.
