Location: Carlisle

Salary: £36,148 - £39,272

Hours: Full-time

We are looking for a motivated and industry-experienced Senior Training Advisor (Heavy/Commercial Vehicles) to lead, shape and deliver high-quality apprenticeship programmes that make a real difference to learners and employers alike.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine your commercial vehicle expertise with a passion for learning and development. You will play a key role in supporting apprentices throughout their journey while building strong partnerships with local HGV and commercial vehicle employers, helping them develop the skilled workforce they need for the future.

If you're an experienced Heavy Vehicle Technician, Workshop Supervisor, Fleet Engineer, or industry professional looking for a rewarding career change, we'd love to hear from you. No previous teaching experience is required. We will support you with the training and qualifications needed to succeed in this role.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Senior Training Advisor, you will:

Manage and support a caseload of Heavy/Commercial Vehicle apprentices.
Conduct training needs analyses with employers and identify workforce development opportunities.
Develop individual learning plans and coordinate initial assessments.
Monitor apprentice progress and carry out regular workplace reviews.
Assess and support learners in achieving apprenticeship standards and qualifications.
Prepare apprentices for End Point Assessment (EPA).
Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, acting as a key link between the workplace and the college.
Deliver training sessions where required to support learner achievement.
Support apprenticeship recruitment, enrolment and induction activities.
Conduct workplace Health & Safety checks and maintain accurate records.
Drive quality improvement and ensure apprenticeship programmes meet internal and external standards.
Contribute to business development activities and promote apprenticeship opportunities across the commercial vehicle sector.

What We're Looking For

Essential

Relevant industry experience within Heavy/Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
Level 3 qualification in a related vocational subject.
GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent), or willingness to achieve with support.
Strong technical knowledge of commercial vehicle systems and maintenance practices.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
Full UK driving licence.
Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and continuous improvement.

Desirable

Experience of training, mentoring or coaching others.
Knowledge of apprenticeship standards and work-based learning.
Teaching, assessor or quality assurance qualifications.
Experience conducting workplace reviews and assessments.
Health & Safety, IAG or related qualifications.
