Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Electrical Dite Manager on a 6 Month Rolling Contract, based in London.
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Site Manager to oversee the electrical installation works on a major data centre construction project in London. You will be responsible for managing on-site electrical delivery including HV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, busbar, containment, and associated M&E services across a fast-paced, high-value programme. This is a contract engagement operating outside IR35, suited to a self-employed Ltd company contractor.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage day-to-day electrical installation works on site including HV/LV, UPS, generators, busbar trunking, and containment systems
• Coordinate directly with the Principal Contractor, M&E subcontractors, and client-side teams to ensure programme adherence
• Chair and attend site progress meetings; produce and review method statements, risk assessments, and inspection & test plans
• Oversee safe systems of work including permit to work (PTW), isolation procedures, and electrical safety documentation
• Monitor labour, plant, and materials on site; manage subcontractor performance against programme milestones
• Ensure works are delivered in compliance with BS 7671, IET Wiring Regulations, and client-specific technical standards
• Liaise with commissioning teams during energisation and handover phases; support witnessing and sign-off activities
• Maintain site records, daily diaries, and progress reporting for submission to the project manager
• Enforce site health & safety standards in line with CDM 2015 regulations and company HSE policy
Requirements
Essential
• Proven experience as an Electrical Site Manager on data centre, critical infrastructure, or large commercial M&E projects
• Strong background in HV/LV distribution, UPS systems, standby generators, and structured power infrastructure
• Thorough understanding of BS 7671 (18th Edition) and IET Wiring Regulations
• SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certificate — current
• ECS Gold Card (Electrical Supervisor / Manager) or equivalent trade certification
• Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multi-disciplinary site teams
• Competent in the review and implementation of ITPs, MERAs, and electrical testing & commissioning documentation
• Full working knowledge of CDM 2015 duties and construction phase health & safety obligations
• Proven ability to manage programme pressure and interface with senior stakeholders
Desirable
• Prior experience on hyperscale or colocation data centre programmes (Tier 3 / Tier 4 environments)
• 18th Edition / City & Guilds 2382 or 2391 (Inspection & Testing)
• HNC / HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services
• Familiarity with DCIM systems, BMS integration, and structured cabling coordination
• Experience working within principal contractor frameworks (Tier 1 contractors)
