Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Job Purpose
To provide engineering support through planned preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, installations, refurbishments and continuous improvement activities, ensuring maximum equipment reliability and minimal downtime.
Working to high standards of Engineering, Quality, Health & Safety and Hygiene, you will support the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment while working closely with production and other departments.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and repairs on manufacturing plant, process equipment, packaging machinery and site services.
* Install, modify, commission and improve mechanical and electrical equipment including conveyors, motors, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, steam systems, boilers and utilities.
* Complete preventative maintenance schedules, maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure all work complies with Health & Safety, Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
* Support continuous improvement projects, equipment upgrades and engineering initiatives to improve reliability, efficiency, quality and safety.
* Work closely with production teams, contractors and suppliers to resolve technical issues and minimise downtime.
* Complete statutory inspections, maintain engineering drawings where required, follow Permit to Work procedures and provide effective shift handovers.
* Undertake training to maintain and develop engineering skills and support wider business requirements as required.
Qualifications
* City & Guilds or equivalent Engineering qualification.
* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
* Multi-skilled engineering qualification (HNC or equivalent desirable).
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (electrically biased candidates).
Experience
* Minimum three years' experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment.
* Proven experience of planned and reactive maintenance.
* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
* Able to work effectively under pressure within a fast-paced production environment.
Skills & Knowledge
* Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience.
* Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
* Good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, steam systems and industrial pipework.
* Experience using CMMS systems and general IT skills.
* Ability to prioritise workloads, communicate effectively and work independently or as part of a multi-skilled engineering team.
* Good understanding of Health & Safety, Permit to Work and isolation procedures
