The Project
We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist construction contractor working on one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the UK. Hinkley Point C is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations, with two new nuclear reactors currently under construction in Somerset. This is a long-term, ongoing project offering exceptional career opportunity for the right candidate.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to join the team at Hinkley Point C, overseeing construction activities on a highly regulated nuclear construction site. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required standard within a strict compliance environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing day-to-day site operations across your designated area of works
* Supervising site operatives, subcontractors and trades
* Ensuring all works are carried out safely and in full compliance with site health and safety regulations
* Monitoring programme and ensuring works are delivered on time and to specification
* Conducting daily briefings, toolbox talks and site inspections
* Liaising with the client, project managers and engineering teams
* Maintaining accurate site records, diaries and progress reports
* Ensuring all personnel on site hold the correct tickets, clearances and inductions
* Enforcing strict site rules and nuclear safety protocols at all times
Requirements
* Proven Site Manager experience on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
* SMSTS qualification (essential)
* First Aid at Work
* CSCS card — Manager level
* Experience working in a highly regulated environment — nuclear, pharmaceutical, energy or similar preferred
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple work fronts simultaneously
* Full UK driving licence
Additional Requirements for Hinkley Point C:
* BPSS security clearance (or willingness to obtain)
* EDF site induction (completed prior to start)
* Nuclear safety awareness training
