SEN Teaching Assistant Required in Weston-super-Mare
Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Taunton that is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential within the classroom environment.
The Role
Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, and SEMH.
Delivering tailored interventions and learning activities under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.
Building positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress.
Promoting inclusion and supporting pupils both academically and socially.
Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies where required.
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
Experience within education, care, youth work, or support work backgrounds will be considered.

Competitive rates of pay between £14.25 and £16.68 per hour.
Full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm.
Term-time-only working pattern.
