Transport Planner

Location: Purfleet, Essex
Salary: Up to £30,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

A growing global logistics company is looking for a Transport Planner to join its team in Purfleet.

The Role

As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating daily transport movements and ensuring deliveries and collections are planned efficiently.

Key responsibilities will include:

Planning daily vehicle movements, collections and deliveries

Allocating work to drivers and subcontractors

Monitoring vehicle movements throughout the day

Liaising with drivers, customers, depots and internal departments

Ensuring transport schedules are completed efficiently

Responding to customer queries and providing delivery updates

Managing changes to routes and schedules

Resolving delays, missed collections and delivery issues

Updating transport management systems accurately

Preparing and checking transport documentation

Ensuring drivers have the correct instructions and paperwork

Supporting compliance with driver hours and transport regulations

Maintaining accurate records of transport activity

Building strong working relationships with customers and suppliers

Supporting the wider transport team when required

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience within transport, logistics, freight or distribution

Experience planning vehicle movements would be beneficial

Strong communication and organisational skills

The ability to work in a busy and time-sensitive environment

Good attention to detail

Confidence speaking with drivers, customers and suppliers

Strong problem-solving skills

The ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities

Good computer skills

A positive attitude and willingness to learn
