As a SEND Pastoral Teaching Assistant, you will support children and young people with a range of additional needs, helping them to develop confidence, regulate their emotions and engage positively with learning.
You may be supporting pupils with:
🧠 Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
🎓 Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
💬 Communication and interaction needs
🤝 Behavioural, emotional and pastoral support needs
🧩 Key responsibilities
• Providing one to one and small group pastoral support
• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
• Encouraging engagement in learning and school life
• Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to support individual pupils
• Helping to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
