Site Engineer

Immediate Start
£350 - £400 Daily
Temporary
Some projects are just jobs. This isn’t one of them.
We’re supporting a major civil engineering contractor delivering a critical section of a nationally significant energy link in East Lothian — a 10km stretch of infrastructure that will underpin how power is transmitted across the UK for decades to come.
Right now, there’s a key phase underway: transforming a challenging side slope into a stable, engineered platform capable of carrying two HVAC circuits. It’s heavy earthworks, serious volumes (circa 35,000 tonnes of imported material), and it needs to be done right — first time.
That’s where you come in.
They’re looking for a Site Engineer who’s comfortable taking ownership on the ground. Someone who knows their way around Trimble GPS, understands how to translate design into reality, and can keep quality, safety, and progress aligned without needing constant oversight.
You’ll be setting out and controlling earthworks operations, working closely with plant teams (including machine-controlled excavators), and ensuring everything is built and recorded in line with spec. There’s a strong emphasis on QA — expect to be across testing regimes (PLTs, NDTs, SRTs), maintaining clean records (ITPs, ITRs, photos), and producing accurate as-builts.
The wider scheme includes drainage, haul roads, ducting (HVAC and HVDC), joint bays, and reinstatement works — so you’ll be part of a much bigger picture, not just a standalone package of works
What’s on offer reflects the importance of the role:
– £350 per day
– Accommodation provided
– Two hot meals on site, daily
– Initial 6-month duration, with a strong likelihood of continuity for the right person
This suits an engineer who prefers meaningful work over the mundane — someone who takes pride in getting the details right and leaving behind a job that stands up to scrutiny.
If you’ve worked on large-scale earthworks or linear infrastructure and want to be part of something that actually matters, it’s worth a conversation.
Legal Information:
We act as an employment agency for permanent work and as an employment business for temporary work.
