Quality Manager Overview:
Own quality and compliance across a small, regulated manufacturing business
Manage audits, NCRs, corrective actions, customer requirements and QMS activity

This Quality Manager role is with a growing manufacturing business in Ferndown, operating in a regulated environment with strong customer and certification requirements. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Quality Manager will take ownership of quality and compliance activity across the business, covering audits, NCRs, corrective actions, customer flow-down requirements, contract reviews, documentation and continuous improvement. This Quality Manager position could suit an experienced Quality Manager, or a Quality Engineer ready to step up, provided they have the communication skills, resilience and attention to detail needed to take ownership.
Day-to-day responsibilities of a Quality Manager
Maintain and improve the company’s QMS/IMS across quality, compliance and environmental requirements
Manage internal audits, external audits, customer audits and certification activity
Review contract requirements, customer flow-down obligations and quality sign-offs
Support production with quality issues, documentation queries and general day-to-day firefighting
Review NCRs, root cause investigations, corrective actions and improvement activity
Work with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and senior management to resolve quality concerns
Support customer and supplier quality issues, including supply chain-related NCRs
Monitor common quality issues around documentation, BOM accuracy and component compliance
Maintain quality records, procedures, reports and controlled documentation
Support customer compliance requirements including REACH, RoHS and related obligations
Prepare quality and compliance reports for senior management
Help drive continuous improvement across process control, right-first-time output and customer satisfaction
Support Health & Safety and environmental compliance where required, without it being the main focus of the role

Experience in Quality Engineering, Quality Management, Product Assurance or Compliance within manufacturing
Able to maintain, support or improve a QMS/IMS in a regulated environment
Internal audit experience, with exposure to external or customer audits useful
Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO9001 or ISO14001 standards
Experience with NCRs, corrective actions, root cause analysis and continuous improvement
Confident reviewing customer requirements, contract reviews or quality flow-downs
Strong communication skills, able to adapt between shop floor, management, customers and auditors
Detail-focused, resilient and comfortable taking ownership of issues through to completion
Confident without being overbearing, with the ability to challenge standards in the right way
Some electronics or electro-mechanical manufacturing understanding would be useful
Desirable - Quality Manager
Previous experience in electronics, PCB assembly, electro-mechanical assembly or contract manufacturing
Experience managing AS9100, ISO9001 and ISO14001 certification activity
Supplier quality, supplier audits or supplier development experience
FAIR, AS9102, calibration or product assurance experience
Knowledge of REACH, RoHS, conflict minerals or customer-specific compliance requirements
Experience coaching, training or developing others around quality standards
