Datacentre Support Engineer
📍 Location: Dublin, Cork and Mayo, Ireland

Genesis is looking for an experienced Datacentre Support Engineer to provide critical onsite support across multiple datacentre locations in Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with strong datacentre, networking, and hardware support experience who enjoys working in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.
You'll play a key role in maintaining and supporting enterprise infrastructure, responding to incidents, carrying out installations, troubleshooting hardware and fibre connectivity, and ensuring customer SLAs are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide onsite support to datacentres across Ireland as part of a 24/7 call-out rota.
* Respond to incident tickets and work orders within agreed SLA targets.
* Perform first-line maintenance on network infrastructure and associated hardware.
* Assist with network integration, equipment configuration, and commissioning activities.
* Install, replace, and maintain servers, storage, routers, switches, and associated infrastructure.
* Perform hardware break-fix activities, including component replacement and RMA handling.
* Carry out optical fibre testing and troubleshooting.
* Support planned maintenance, migrations, and infrastructure upgrades.
* Maintain accurate inventory records, equipment labelling, and documentation.
* Liaise with customers, third-party vendors, and internal engineering teams.
* Follow site access procedures, permit-to-work processes, and health & safety requirements.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking engineers who have experience working within enterprise datacentres or critical infrastructure environments and can confidently support both networking and server hardware.
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum 3 years' experience in datacentre operations or a similar technical environment.
Strong knowledge of Layer 1 & Layer 2 networking.
Experience supporting:
TCP/IP networking
Ethernet technologies
Fibre optic infrastructure
Routers and switches
Hands-on experience with server hardware from vendors such as HP, Dell or equivalent.
Experience installing and replacing hardware components including storage, memory, CPUs, HBAs and system boards.
Ability to troubleshoot hardware, firmware and BIOS-related issues.
Experience with structured cabling, copper and fibre installations.
Familiarity with fibre connectors including LC, SC, MPO/MTP and Single Mode/Multi Mode fibre.
Experience using fibre testing equipment such as:
OTDR
Optical Power Meter
Laser Source
Visual Fault Locator (VFL)
Fiberscope
Ability to read engineering drawings, MOPs and technical documentation.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Excellent organisational and documentation skills.
Strong communication skills with both customers and internal stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
