Job Title:Workforce Transformation Lead
Location: Reading or Paddington (preferred)
Salary/Rate: £450-500 per day inside IR35
Start Date: 2-3 weeks
Job Type: Initial contract until mid October

We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading consultancy clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Workforce Transformation Lead/Journey Owner to join their team in Reading or Paddington on a hybrid basis.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives
Based on the hiring discussion, this is not a traditional Product Owner role. The hiring manager is looking for a strategic Journey Owner who can define and shape a workforce/resource planning journey, rather than simply manage a backlog.The Journey Owner will be responsible for defining the future-state journey and operating model.

Strategic Design

  • Define the end-to-end workforce planning journey
  • Shape future operating processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and decision making
  • Provide thought leadership and challenge existing ways of working

Process & Operating Model Definition

  • Map current and future processes
  • Understand how multiple data sources feed workforce planning
  • Define how information should flow through the organisation
  • Create recommendations for process orchestration and governance

Resource Planning & Workforce Modelling

  • Help define how demand should be forecast
  • Understand complex resource allocation challenges
  • Design approaches for matching resource supply to demand
  • Consider contingency and "jeopardy" scenarios such as illness, holidays, changing demand, failed installations and operational disruptions

Technology & Capability Assessment

  • Define required business capabilities
  • Validate whether existing platforms can support the future model
  • Identify capability gaps
  • Contribute to recommendations that support investment decisions

Investment Committee Preparation

  • Produce the analysis and documentation required to support the business case
  • Provide subject matter expertise during Investment Committee reviews and feedback cycles
  • Support preparation of papers and recommendations for approval

Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:

Complex Resource Planning
This is the single biggest requirement.

The ideal person has experience designing or optimising environments where:

  • Resources need to be assigned dynamically
  • Demand fluctuates
  • The operational environment is complex
  • Disruptions have significant downstream impacts

Strategic Product/Journey Thinking

They need someone who can:

  • Create strategy
  • Define future-state journeys
  • Build operating models
  • Lead discovery and definition work
  • Solve complex business problems

They do not want someone whose experience is limited to backlog management and delivery administration.
Process Design & Orchestration

Strong experience in:

  • Business process management
  • Process orchestration
  • Operating model design
  • Cross-functional business transformation

Desirable Skills/Experience
Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:

  • Telecommunications
  • Utilities
  • Field services
  • Logistics
  • Supply chain
  • Workforce scheduling
  • Last-mile delivery
  • Home services
  • Operations planning
  • Transport
  • Retail fulfilment
