We are seeking a caring, dedicated, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Sutton Coldfield. This is a full-time opportunity starting in September 2026, running until July 2027, with the possibility of a permanent role for the successful candidate.

About the School

This friendly primary school is committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive learning environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. The school prides itself on its supportive ethos, with staff working collaboratively to ensure pupils with additional needs receive the guidance and encouragement they need to thrive both academically and personally.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated one to one support for a pupil with additional learning needs. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will play an important role in helping the pupil access the curriculum, build confidence, develop independence, and achieve meaningful progress throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

* Work alongside the class teacher to deliver personalised learning activities tailored to the pupil's individual needs.

* Adapt classroom resources and tasks to maximise participation and engagement.

* Encourage positive behaviour, communication, confidence, and independence.

* Support the pupil's emotional wellbeing while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.

* Build positive working relationships with teachers, parents, carers, and external professionals to support the pupil's ongoing development.

* Monitor, record, and report on the pupil's progress, sharing observations with teaching staff where appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate

We welcome applications from compassionate and motivated individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

The successful candidate will have:

* A degree (or be in their final year of university) in any subject.

* Previous experience working with children or supporting individuals with Special Educational Needs (desirable but not essential).

* A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

* The ability to develop positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.

* A professional, reliable attitude and a genuine commitment to helping children achieve their potential.

What the School Offers

* A supportive and welcoming mainstream primary school environment.

* Ongoing training and opportunities for professional development.

* Valuable hands-on experience providing one-to-one SEN support.

* The opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact on a child's educational journey and personal development.

* The potential to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.

If you are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and are looking to develop your experience within an inclusive and supportive primary school, this is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team in Sutton Coldfield.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position is previous experience working in a school setting.
