Psychology Graduates - Graduate Teaching Assistant
Kingston | September 2026 Start
Are you a Psychology Graduate looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in education before progressing into a career in educational psychology, child psychology, teaching, speech and language therapy, or mental health support?
We are currently recruiting Psychology Graduates for Graduate Teaching Assistant opportunities within supportive and high-performing secondary schools across Kingston and the wider South West London area. These long-term roles provide an excellent platform to build practical experience working with young people while developing a deeper understanding of learning, behaviour, and child development in a real classroom environment.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full academic potential. Schools are particularly keen to engage Psychology Graduates due to their strong understanding of cognition, motivation, behaviour, and the social factors that influence learning.
The Role
Full-time Graduate Teaching Assistant position
Based in well-established secondary schools across Kingston
Supporting students across Key Stages 3-5
Providing 1:1 support and small group interventions
Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
Supporting students with additional learning needs (SEND) where required
September 2026 start
The Ideal Candidate
A degree in Psychology or a closely related subject
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Genuine interest in education, child development, and behaviour
Ability to build positive and consistent relationships with young people
Proactive, reliable, and professional approach to supporting learning
Why This Role?
For Psychology Graduates, school-based experience offers invaluable insight into how children learn, develop, and respond within structured educational environments. This exposure is highly regarded by postgraduate programmes and future employers in educational psychology, child psychology, teaching, counselling, and wider child-focused professions.
Working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Kingston will allow you to apply theoretical knowledge from your degree to real-world practice, while developing practical skills in behaviour support, intervention strategies, and student engagement.
Whether your ambition is to become an Educational Psychologist, Teacher, or pursue another child-centred profession, this Graduate Teaching Assistant role provides an excellent foundation for your career journey.
Academics is acting as an employment agency in relation to this vacancy. All successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced DBS check, and all other safer recruitment and compliance checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance
