Mechanical Design Engineer

Looking for more than just another design role? Join an established British engineering manufacturer whose bespoke equipment is used across industries including food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, additive manufacturing and industrial processing.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of projects from concept through to manufacture, designing customised equipment that solves real-world engineering challenges. Working closely with an onsite manufacturing facility, you'll see your designs come to life while collaborating with Sales, Production and customers to deliver high-quality engineered solutions.

What you'll be doing on a Mechanical Design Engineer:
Designing bespoke mechanical equipment using 2D and 3D CAD.
Producing detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
Managing projects from customer order through to production.
Providing technical support to Sales and customers.
Working with suppliers to source specialist components.
Supporting manufacturing and resolving technical issues on the shop floor.
Continuously improving designs and engineering processes.What we're looking for in a Mechanical Design Engineer:
Mechanical Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND or Degree).
Experience designing bespoke mechanical products or machinery.
Strong 2D & 3D CAD skills
Good understanding of fabrication, welded assemblies and manufacturing processes.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Experience working within an ISO9001 environment.Desirable experience
Sheet metal or fabricated machinery design.
Rotary equipment.
Bulk material handling or process equipment.
ERP systems (Epicor desirable).
Knowledge of ATEX, CE, UKCA or UL standards.
Electrical or electronic engineering awareness.Why join?
