We are partnering with a leading construction contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor for a major data centre development in London.
This is a site-based position offering the opportunity to work on a technically complex project, supporting operational teams to deliver exceptional health, safety and environmental standards throughout the construction lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert HSE guidance to project leadership and site teams throughout all phases of construction.
Monitor compliance with UK health and safety legislation, client requirements and internal management systems.
Carry out regular site inspections, audits and behavioural safety observations, ensuring any findings are addressed promptly.
Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and driving preventative actions.
Support the development and review of construction phase documentation, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and coaching sessions to employees and subcontractors.
Promote a positive safety culture through visible leadership and proactive engagement with the workforce.
Build strong relationships with subcontractors, ensuring consistent HSE performance across all work packages.
Produce accurate reports, KPI data and project updates for senior management and client teams.
Assist with audits, compliance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
About You
Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification preferred.
Previous experience in a senior HSE position on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
Data centre, mission-critical, commercial or industrial project experience would be advantageous.
Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
Confident communicator with the ability to influence people at all levels of a project.
Experience working alongside principal contractors, subcontractors and client representatives.
Well organised, self-motivated and capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Full UK driving licence is desirable.
